Thanksgiving Is the Time to Thank Yourself for Being Ready to Learn From Each Date and Relationship

Posted on

There are no better times than the holidays, such as Thanksgiving, to reflect over yourself and thank your ability to learn, grow and develop from each date you have and each relationship you try to cultivate.

It surely happened that you went on a blind date which didn’t materialize into a relationship. Or that you began a relationship which didn’t materialize into a long-term bond. Both situations might make you feel frustrated, disappointed, bitter and annoyed – especially if they happened more than once, and especially if you are desperate to have a partner.

Feeling frustrated, disappointed, bitter and annoyed is natural. Especially when things don’t go the way you want them to.

However:

You can learn about yourself especially when things don’t go the way you want them to

It is important to remember that even though things don’t go the way you want them to, nothing is in vain. Willing to understand and get to know yourself better is the best gift you can give to yourself.

Questions to ask yourself:

* Have you learned anything new about yourself during the blind-date?
* Have you gained any insight form the brief relationship you had?
* Have you grown from this latest experience, and if so, in which ways?
* Are you now more equipped to deal with other blind dates and/or relationships?

Being open to learn about yourself is vital to finding a partner

As you are willing to perceive blind dates and relationships in this way and are open to learn and understand things about yourself you haven’t before, you’ll realize that, with each new experience, you keep developing, getting more and more in touch with yourself, your needs, fears, attitudes towards others, towards life and relationships.

Becoming aware of “who you really are” empowers you

The more you grow and develop, the more you get in touch with “who you are”, your fears, needs, belief-system, expectations and fantasies, and the more empowered to finally succeed in finding a partner with whom to develop the relationship you so much desire.
