It seems like today just about everything that comes out is based on a sense of nostalgia. Vintage trends are constantly coming and going, and styles from all throughout the 20th century just seem to cycle through again and again.
Beyond fashion, the film industry is probably one of the most common culprits of rehashing things from the past. They are constantly adapting an old television show, remaking a classic film, or just putting out sequel after sequel.
In some ways, nostalgia can be a bad thing, and in other ways it can be great. Some remakes, like Martin Scorcese’s ‘”The Departed”, come out fantastic. At the same time, for every great remake you get to enjoy, there are a dozen films as bad as “Rollerball” (original or remake).
However, nostalgia isn’t exclusive to vintage clothes or old movies. The most common form of nostalgia comes from the foods we ate as children. We love the cookies our moms used to make, or the meat loaf that our grandma used to pull out of the oven.
And while we cannot always recreate the wonderful foods that family members perfected over the years, we certainly can re-experience all of the delicious candy we used to enjoy as children.
There was nothing in the world like going out the front door as a child with a quarter and knowing that you could get 25 pieces of penny candy from the store down the block. That seemed like an insane amount of product for just one single coin.
As we got older and our allowances started to grow, so did our tastes in candies. Rather than spending just a penny on a single piece of gummy candy, we would spend a nickel or a dime on a more exotic type of candy. Pretty soon we were spending that entire quarter on a candy bar.
When we grow up we naturally cannot subsist on candy alone, and so our palates evolve. However, that does not mean we cannot hearken back from time to time to those exciting sugary treats of our youth. These nostalgic candies from your childhood are exciting blasts from the past that you will delight to have back in your life.

Bosco Milk Chocolate Bar
There is a classic episode of ‘Seinfeld’ that involves George Costanza and his ATM secret pass code. As J. Peterman’s mother lies dying in bed, George decides she is the one person he can confide his secret in. Then, suddenly, with her last breathe she starts yelling out what seems like a strange and mysterious last word. She yells, “Bosco! Bosco!” over and over again.
Of course, “Bosco” was, in fact, George’s ATM password. Many people probably know Bosco as one of the most delicious chocolate syrups ever made. In fact, its origins stretch all the way back to 1928.
But what you may not know is that the Bosco company also made extravagant chocolate bars using the very same cocoa that comes in their syrup. All of the ingredients in this tasty treat are all natural, and the vintage design of this candy bar delightfully captures almost a century of heritage. This particular bar is part of a very limited collector’s series, so enjoy it while you can!
We all know that we can’t go back and re-do the childhood that we once had. And if you really think about it, who would want to? For all of the joys, there was an equal amount of pain. But now, as adults, we can look back fondly and remember those days, while enjoying some of the same candy we had as children.
