A DJ is hired for a party to keep the guests entertained and happy. This might be easy to do if the guests are easy to please. However, there might come a time when you need to DJ for a party with difficult guests. What should you do?

For starters, you should make sure that you have everything that you need. Delays and glitches might further irritate the guests. Before the party, know who you should be contacting about the details. Make sure that you take note of the time, the location and the theme of the party correctly. You should not be late. As much as possible, come early to the location so that you can setup your equipment before the party actually starts.

One of the things that need to be with you is your lighting equipment. The number of lights that you need will depend on the type of party that is to be held. An outdoor party might require more lights than an indoor one. Also, if the party is held at a huge space, you might need more of your lighting equipment. However, if the party is held in the day, there will be no need for you to worry about this detail.

If you do not own such equipment, you may be able to rent them at particular stores. These lights might not be required from you as a DJ but you can create a better impression to the host of the party as well as to the guests if you can help create a better atmosphere for the party.

Talk to the organizer of the party about what preparations you might need to make. Try to visit the location days before the party to find out where you will be setting up. You should also pay attention to the facilities of the venue. Sometimes, there might be no need to bring your own lighting equipment if the venue already has their own.

As you will be playing music, make your music appropriate for the party and for the type of guests who will be attending. Prepare your mix of music early on. Your lights should also go well with the type of music that you are playing.

Your lights can come in different colors. Warmer shades like red, orange and yellow may be great for a cold night party. This may also be helpful if the party is held outside of the building. During a warm summer night, you should consider using cool colors like blue or green.

Protect your equipment by installing them correctly. Use existing structures to hold them in place. And if you have that large lighting equipment that is held up by a truss, you should keep from installing it in the middle of the room without support. Also, have backup for your music and even your lighting equipment. When something wrong occurs, you can allow for the party to go on successfully if you have extra resources with you.
